Paul story

My own Dad always said that babies don’t do anything interesting until they’re about six months old and then you can get involved as a dad. My son Charlie is now about to turn 14 months and I think he might be right not to say that I haven’t enjoyed having up to then it is just that from six months on there’s something new every week, month. First they roll over for the first time, then you’re into feeding them proper food, not just milk, after that they’re sitting up by themselves, then pulling themselves around and eventually walking and saying their first words. It’s a really exciting time and when you’re out at work every day you’ve really got to pay attention or you miss it, because it just goes by in a flash. I mean, I’d be out of the house by eight every morning, so there’d be an hour or two (if we were unlucky) to spend with him in the morning, then I’d get home for about half six-ish and see him again for an hour before he fell asleep. I really look forward to the weekend.

When you're tired it's easy to see things like changing nappies, feeding, getting up with them and all that as a bit of a chore. But if you do it it is so rewarding some one said that you never get this time back and the rate at which he is changing I can see what they mean.
