Bruising is a daily occurrence you may say an occupational hazard for a toddler, they probably have been banging into things,
taking tumbles, or accidentally getting bumped or hit most of the day. Obviously if your child is away from you and you have
concerns about the number of bruises then you must address the situation immediately.
Bruises are more obvious on young
children because their skin is thinner, they also show up more on fair-skinned children and some children simply bruise more
easily than others.
You can treat them in many ways most bruises aren’t that painful and will be gone in a few weeks. If the bruise
is big and swollen it can be help by the use of an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel. If they are painful
you can give your child infant painkillers, always follow the instructions on the label.
Arnica cream is a herbal cream and it is excellent for bruises provided the skin is not broken. There are many
of the over the counter preparations but there is no substitute for lots of kisses and cuddles.
You should contact
a doctor if your toddler's bruises are the result of a
- serious fall or any other traumatic accident.
